ESTUCO

 The Elementary Student Council (ESTUCO) is an organization which contributes to the socio-affectivedevelopment,  stimulates cooperation, elevates self-esteem, broadens comradeship and prepares them to live in a democracy and to fight for it. Through active student participation leaders are discovered and developed. 

 

Objectives

  • To developed leadership among students.
  • To involve students in constructing their own learning experiences where teachers act as facilitators and as advisors through the process.
  • To foster civic, social and moral values.
  • To promote problem-solving among students.
  • To form conscious and responsible citizens aware of our country’s reality to become the developers of a new Honduras.
  • To educate democratically and for a democracy.

Process 

 The process to select the ESTUCO members must take place with responsibility and the relevance required.First a committee is appointed democratically in each grade level, where a President, Vice-president, Secretary, Treasurer, and an Alternate are elected, subsequently the candidates from fourth to sixth grades are trained through a leadership workshop to skilled them in preparing their government plans and campaigns.An election day is set, where the school community is entitled to vote following the requirements from the electoral committee.Each of the electoral tables has representatives of the school community, parents, teachers, and students; on that same date the vote counting takes place.After the scrutiny official documents are filled out. Finally a special date is arranged for the Presidential Inauguration Day.
