Community Service was created by decree # 3229, on October 2nd, 1975, for the purpose of substituting the thesis work valid up to date, as a pre requisite prior to obtaining the Arts and Science Baccalaureate, therefore becoming a fundamental part of the educational process for last year students.
The fundamental objective of Community Service is to obtain awareness from the students of vulnerable sectors of our capital's community, in order for them to realize the socioeconomic situation in which the vast majority of our population lives in.
Nowadays, Community Service is developed through four key components:
1. Physical rehabilitation 2. Health 3. Reforestation 4. Solidarity
As each one is carried out, students strengthen human values key to their holistic integral development such as cooperation, solidarity, and responsibility. It also promotes the development of abilities and organization skills, negotiating, leadership and communication. In this sense, Community Service fits right in with the school's vision and mission.
Students enrolled in their last year participate en various activities as they form part of such Community service, in collaboration with several public and private institutions, among them:
