SEDICA Training

During this school year, the recently acquired equipment has opened up a door of opportunities to improve the learning experiences in all the science classes. The Science Department's main objective is to provide the Science teachers with new ideas for lab activities that they will teach to their students. This objective is being accomplished through a series of training.
It is well known by the Science teachers that the best way to learn natural sciences is to combine the theoretical principles and laws that govern nature, with lab practices that would reinforce these principles in an experimental way.   The inclusion of frequent lab practices  has proven to be an extremely helpful tool in learning the fascinating, yet complex processes that take place in both the living and non-living world. It is undeniable that this method makes science a live, interesting, and even exciting area of study that searches and finds the natural talents in our students.

Due to the Elementary and Secondary students different needs according to the academic standards, teachers are grouped from 1st to 4th grade, from 5th to 6th grade, 7th to 8th grade, and 9th to 11th grade.  The first couple of trainings consisted of introducing measurement, the names of the most important tools used in Elementary practices, as well as their usefulness. As soon as this was done, more specific topics were included upon the requests of the Elementary teachers and Secondary professors, such as magnetism, environment, determining presence of macromolecules, cellular processes, and so on.

It is our purpose to continue these opportunities of differentiated training for the science teachers, since we are sure this will turn into more interesting learning experiences for our students. This, in turn, goes hand in hand with our Dowal School's vision and mission, which is to contribute to elevate the quality of education for our youth.
